Hip Hop Beats

Lately, there has been a numerous amount of up and coming rap artists who have the desire to create their own hip hop beats. It seems to be becoming more common, just as it is not uncommon now to see a lot of producers of hip hop beats become rappers. While I am all about people stretching and learning as much as they can, I also believe that specialization helps keep standards high in the marketplace. Everyone who makes hip hop beats cannot be considered a "producer." Yet everytime I meet someone who creates hip hop beats using Fruity Loops and a computer, they talk about how great a producer they are. People who deal with other genres of music seem to have a better understanding of the overall role of a music producer. In the hip hop world however, everyone assumes that anyone who makes hip hop beats is a producer. This is not the case. This is just a little information, FYI. |

I would love to read more intel that gives a guy like me an insight into the world of hiphop production. I take it Fruity Loops isn't a breakfast cereal but software of some kind?
